Client Care Specialists
Head Client Care Specialist
Amanda joined our team in 2015 and is the Head Client Care Specialist. She is a true people person and our clients love her outgoing personality. Amanda brings 10 years of experience in the animal care industry and was an animal control officer and head kennel technician in her home state, New York. Amanda lives in North Central Massachusetts with her husband and two Labrador Retrievers, Remi and Rueger. In her spare time, Amanda enjoys outdoor activities such as kayaking, hiking, and playing with the pups.
Felicia joined our team in early 2016. Her smile and upbeat personality make her a perfect match for our practice. She is originally from the North Shore but recently relocated to Central Massachusetts. She misses being near the ocean but is enjoying her beautiful new home. She recently adopted Bruno, a mixed breed puppy, from a local shelter. Bruno has been a wonderful addition to her family. Felicia enjoys outdoor activities and spending time with her family when not at work.
Susie joined the VDS team in early 2017. Her extensive experience in customer service and healthcare helped to ease her transition to veterinary medicine. Susie grew up on Cape Cod but now lives in North Central Massachusetts. She’s part of a farming co-op and loves the fresh produce she gets every month. In fact, some day, Susie would like to own a farm herself. When she is not at VDS, she enjoys spending time with her boyfriend Cody, Porter, the Black Labrador Retriever, and Flint, the adorable domestic longhair cat.
Certified Veterinary Technicians
Kerri is one of our longest employees. She earned her Bachelor of Science in wildlife management with a minor in marine biology from the University of New Hampshire in 1997. Three years later, she achieved certification as a veterinary technician while working at the Animal Rescue League of Boston. It was during these years that Kerri developed a strong interest in veterinary dentistry. We were elated to have Kerri join our team in 2007. Currently, Kerri does not have any pets but she enjoys spending time with her brother’s dog Rudy and her sister’s dog Penelope. We know it is only a matter of time before another four-legged creature steals her heart. Kerri is a lifelong resident of the North Shore and enjoys traveling, photography, kayaking, and art.
Mandee first came to VDS as a veterinary technician intern from Mount Ida’s veterinary technology program in 2013. She stayed on as an intern for two rotations, and we liked her so much, we decided to ask her to join our team. In addition to her Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Technology, she also has a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Massachusetts-Lowell. Prior to her veterinary career, Mandee worked as an administrative assistant for a large assisted living community and also as an HR assistant for a construction company. She lives in Hudson with her four cats, three snakes, six chickens, and a guinea pig. In her spare time, Mandee enjoys creative writing, martial arts, and home improvement projects.
Sarah joined the VDS team in 2014 after graduating from Mount Ida College with a Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Technology. She developed an interest in veterinary medicine while working for a general practice in 2008. While Sarah is not a Massachusetts native, she has adjusted to the cold and snowy winter months. She lives in Marlborough with her boyfriend Ryan and four pets: Lucky the Timneh Grey Parrot; a guinea pig named Boota; and Millicent, the edentulous domestic medium hair cat. When she is not busy taking care of our patients at work, Sarah can be found reading, knitting and crocheting.
We first met Michelle as an intern from Mount Ida College in 2015. She enjoyed her first rotation with us so much that she stayed for a second rotation. After her second rotation, she was a part of our family, and we just didn’t want to let her go. Michelle earned her Bachelor of Arts in business management and a minor in English from Assumption College in 2007. After graduation, she worked in the human medical field as a senior support advisor for healthcare information systems. While working in the human healthcare industry, Michelle volunteered her spare time at the Shalit-Glazer Clinic MSPCA in Boston. She knew her future was with animals and thus returned to school at Mount Ida College. While studying Animal Science at Mount Ida, she participated in the Study Abroad program where she volunteered at spay and neuter clinics and provided medical treatment to cows and bulls in Belize. Michelle lives in Bolton with her orange domestic shorthair cat, Fenway. In her spare time, she enjoys family game night, camping, kayaking, and anything else to keep her active.
Tommy joined our team in 2015 but is not new to veterinary medicine. His veterinary career started in 2008 at a veterinary practice in New Mexico, where he developed an interest in veterinary dentistry. While in New Mexico, he earned his bachelor’s degree in animal science from New Mexico State University and then an Associate in Applied Science degree in veterinary technology in 2011 from San Juan College.
Tommy eventually found his way to Massachusetts where he worked at Angell Animal Medical Center in the Oncology Department. He then returned to general practice where his love of dentistry grew. Most recently Tommy worked as an anesthesia technician at Tuft’s University Foster Hospital for Small Animals until a position was available at VDS. We have enjoyed having him as a part of the team and look forward to working with him in the coming years. Tommy lives in Worcester County with his rescue dogs Luna and Rhea and his boyfriend Billy. In his spare time, he enjoys cooking, spending time with his family and friends, and watching Wheel of Fortune.
Jenn is the newest member of our team but is not new to veterinary medicine. She graduated from Becker College in 1999 with an Associate’s degree in Veterinary Technology. Prior to her employment with VDS, she spent 18 years at a veterinary practice in Worcester, Massachusetts. Jenn lives in Central Massachusetts with her girlfriend, Amy, who is also a certified veterinary technician. Together they share their house with 4 dogs, 3 cats, and a bunch of chickens. Jenn enjoys spending time outside doing yard work, canoeing, and fishing.
Tricia joined our team as a veterinary technician in 2012 and has been involved in veterinary medicine for over 20 years. She grew up in Medfield but now lives in Acton with her daughter who is crazy about horses. Tricia has four cats named Harley, Baby Kitty, Red, and Justine as well as two dogs named Dude and Mabel.
In her spare time, Tricia likes to walk her dogs around the arboretum and various conservation areas in Acton. She’s a frequent visitor to Kimball Farm and would like to travel around the country in the future. Like her daughter, Tricia is fond of horses and also enjoys gardening, watching movies, or reading a good book.
Nikki joined our growing team in 2017. She graduated from Montachusett Regional Vocational High School with a Veterinary Assistant certificate and is currently enrolled in the Veterinary Technician program at Penn Foster College. Nikki spent two years working as a Customer Service Coordinator and Veterinary Assistant at another veterinary practice before joining our team. She currently lives in North Central Massachusetts with her two dogs, Jake and Zoey, and a guinea pig named Winnie. Nikki enjoys traveling, yoga, and rock climbing.
Genel joined the VDS team in 2006. She has fulfilled many roles at the practice such as client care specialist and veterinary technician but now focuses most of her time as a manager. She started working in the veterinary field in 1998 while obtaining her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Worcester State University.
Upon graduation, she quickly realized her passion was with animals and their owners, and she decided to stay in the field. She is currently working toward her Master’s degree in Business Administration from Fitchburg State University. She is an active member of the Veterinary Hospital Manager’s Association and the American Animal Hospital Association. Genel lives in North Central Massachusetts with her husband, three cats, and two coon hounds. When she is not at work and school she enjoys gardening, photography and genealogy research.
